Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery

Located at 23740 Ridge Rd., Brooklyn, this cemetery is also known as Ridge Road #1.  The name of the emetery means “a kindness of truth.”  On land purchased in 1905, the cemetery has over 2,300 burials. It was founded as a cemetery for indigent Jews on the west side of Cleveland. Chesed Shel Emeth for most of its tenure did not have any synagogue affiliation as most cemeteries do. Affiliated at this time are Menorah Park and the Orthodox community. There are also a number of burials from members of the Russian community. A partial database on Chesed Shel Emeth is available at the Cleveland JGS Library collection in the Fairmount Temple Library.
