Mayfield Cemetery

This cemetery is located at 2749 Mayfield Road, in Cleveland Heights. It is one of two cemeteries operated by United Jewish Cemeteries, which is a joint venture of Fairmount Temple (Anshe Chesed) and The Temple (Tifereth Israel). The grounds were purchased July 21,1887. The first burial was in 1890 but some graves date from as early as 1863. These were mostly transfers from Willett Street Cemetery. Willett records are held at Mayfield. The famous rabbis, Abba Hillel Silver and Barnett R. Brickner, are buried here. The Cleveland JGS has an enumeration of this cemetery in its Research Library Collection at the Fairmount Temple Library. The only garden-style Jewish cemetery in the Cleveland area, Mayfield Cemetery and Mausoleum offers Temple members a beautiful place where family and friends can gather to remember their loved ones in a manner that is truly comforting.
